message from "the sinkhole" There is no coverage for the area you are trying to reach. Do you know of someone in that area who can set up a FAX Server? If so, show them our sales pitch and server software web pages and encourage them to join us. |

| I received a bounce
that said "you have exceeded your quota" Wait a week/month as appropriate before trying again. Note: Some cells have multiple fax modems, and can send more than one fax at a time. On these servers, you can easily use several hours of 'faxing time' in less than an hour. |

| I received a bounce
that said "maximum retries exceeded" Perhaps there isn't a (compatible) FAX machine at the other end or it was switched off. Check with the recipient person by some other means. |

| I received a bounce
that said "conversion error" Check that you really did sent the e-mail in the correct format: text / simple postscript / TIFF. You an not use a web browser to send a web page (html) as an attachment. | The recipient
received 20 pages of PostScript gibberish on their FAX
machine Your mailer didn't do the PostScript MIME attachment properly. Try different mailer settings, or upgrade to a better client.You should probably try *small* test messages. If you are unable to control how your e-mail software attaches documents (via MIME) you may want to look at the client software available for Windows and MacOS. |

any notification back Please wait a decent amount of time (e.g. 3 days) for your messageto be delivered before escalating the problem. |

| Something didn't
work, like it should have, and I have followed the above
steps Contact the cell operator by replying to the bounce address, or look up the cell operator's address using <this page>. Please include full details of what you were trying to do. Send full copies of the messages you were trying to send and the bounce message if you possibly can. |

didn't answer in a decent amount of time (e.g. 3 days) Post your question to the TPC Mailing List, or contact Mr. Hewes via e-mail Be sure to include all the details including the fax number, what type of e-mail you sent (text, ps, tiff) and a copy of the reply message you received from the TPC Fax Server. |
